How do I know if this class is appropriate for me?
The Summer Institute Series courses are designed for aspiring and practicing teachers. Examine the course syllabus for a clear idea of what the course will entail. You can also contact the instructor if you have further questions concerning content. Instructor contact information can be located on the syllabus.
Note you cannot register directly with the instructor.
Who do I contact to find out where my room assignment is?
Every effort will be made to provide your room assignment with your confirmation. However, this is not always possible. If the room assignment has not been provided to you, please visit the
Directions and Classroom Assignment page or call Amy Stratman (617) 373-8350.
What do I do if I want to change from PDPs to Graduate credit?
If you wish to change your participation level from PDPs to Graduate Credit (or Graduate Credit to PDPs) you must make your request in writing to Amy Stratman. The request can be made by fax (617-373-8924) or emailed to Amy Stratman at
a.stratman@neu.edu. We cannot accept a change of status over the phone.
We cannot change your participation level if your request is not made at least two weeks prior to the start of the course.
When will my grades be available?
Providing all requirements have been met, most Summer Institute Series course grades will be available by September 2, 2008.
Where can I get documentation to prove that I have successfully completed this course?
The University automatically mails to your home a change of grade notification in the form of a small post card. If you need an official transcript you must make that request in writing to the Registrar’s Office.
What are CEUs?
Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) as defined by the International Association for Continuing Education and are recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Education as 1 CEU = 10 PDPs. See
http://www.doe.mass.edu/recert/2000guidelines/ for a copy of the Department of Education guidelines regarding recertification in Massachusetts.
CEU documentation is recorded on your official transcript which must be requested in writing to the Registrar’s Office.
Can I register at the first class?
Registration is limited we encourage you to register early to guarantee a space. Late registration can be problematic administratively and may cause a delay in receiving your grade.
What if I have to miss a class?
See the course syllabus for attendance requirements and speak to the instructor.
Why haven’t I received a bill?
The University generally sends out official bills for summer courses a few weeks before the start of the quarter. Once you register for a class, your information is sent to the Registrar’s Office where it must be entered into the Northeastern University system. You will then receive a bill in the next billing cycle. If you have a question about the timing of a bill, please contact Amy Stratman at (617) 373-8350 or
a.stratman@neu.edu to verify that there is not an address or billing error.
You may also use your myNeu account to verify that your address is correct, and make any necessary changes. If you are anxious to receive your bill for reimbursement purposes you can also use your myNeu account to request a bill be sent to you.
I believe my bill is wrong – who do I contact?
Please contact Amy Stratman at (617) 373-8350 or
a.stratman@neu.edu to sort out any billing questions or errors.
