Professional Development Points / Graduate Credit
Professional Development Points
All programs offered for graduate credit provide PDPs as allowed by Massachusetts DOE regulations governing recertification (i.e., 1.5 PDPs per contact hour). The University does not directly issue PDPs, but rather CEUs for participation. One CEU equals 10 PDPs. See the information below regarding transcripts.
Graduate Credit
Those registering for graduate credit who have not previously taken a NU graduate course, must submit a copy of their teaching certificate or an official copy of their undergraduate transcripts with their registration. Graduate credit is offered in quarter hour units. Four quarter hour credits are the equivalent of three hour semester credits.
Transcripts
If you are participating for PDPs only, your transcript will indicate a pass (satisfactory) or fail (unsatisfactory) grade and the number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) / hours you have earned. One CEU is equivalent to 10 PDPs as determined by the
Massachusetts Department of Education Recertification Guidelines. Those participating for graduate credit will receive a grade for their participation. The University will send out notification cards for changes in enrollment or grades.
Transcripts are free and must be requested in writing. Visit
http://www.registrar.neu.edu/ to download a transcript request or call 617-373-2300.
